 The Dorothy G. Marsh Piano Competition was established specifically for the people of Eastern Kentucky in honor of the rich musical and cultural heritage that so influenced Mrs. Marsh and her family. By doing so we seek to:
  • Inspire young pianists of Eastern Kentucky through the offering or educational opportunities, artistic performances, and masterclasses;
     
  • Provide an event to assist local piano teachers in the areas of music awareness, performance, competition, and adjudication by high-level professionals;
     
  • Provide financial support in scholarship awards for high school pianists planning to pursue musical studies in higher education;
     
  • Induce a healthy spirit of collegiality and competition among high school pianists from eastern Kentucky.
